Operation Good Cheer 2025 Is A Go!

Happy Holidays from everyone at Teaching Family Homes! It is indeed that time of the season where we initiate Operation Good Cheer (OGC). Airplanes loaded with Christmas gifts make their way from Oakland County International Airport in Waterford, MI and into the hearts of TFH children in foster care, residential treatment, and group homes. Recipients vary from infants, children, and teenagers.

Prior to the delivery of the many presents for all of the good boys and girls, Teaching Family Homes enjoys holding an OGC brunch. This year, the brunch included cookie decorating kits donated free of charge by the amazing ownership at Doozers. Doozers is Marquette County’s favorite sweet treat suppliers, so this was a real gift for the youth at Teaching Family Homes.

Coordinated by the State Office of Child and Family Services, thousands of volunteers from several businesses, corporations, public schools, government agencies, and individuals gather to purchase and wrap gifts from a Wish List. Each Wish List contains the participant’s first name, last initial, age, physical and personality profile, and six gifts they would like for Christmas. Donors purchase gifts directly for each child.

Next up is the arrival of the plane toting countless gifts for our youth. The annual event of Operation Good Cheer is something the youth looks forward to every holiday season. Keep an eye out for an update to this post. We’ll be adding photos from the exciting arrival of the gifts.
