As we approach the holiday season, our time is often spent reflecting on past holiday gatherings and traditions, such as sharing family meals along with the exchanging of gifts, but most importantly, we focus on sharing time together with those we love, our family and friends. Unfortunately, many of the children and families that are served by Teaching Family Homes do not have those fond memories to reflect on and the holidays can be a challenging time. The season is not always filled with as much joy as one would hope for.

(906) 249-5437Our families we serve most often come from a traumatic background filled with uncertainty, while they continue to face the daily challenges of meeting their basic needs, such as food, clothing, heat, and a stable house to live in. With the current economic situation, we find ourselves in, these basic needs become even harder to obtain; there are often not enough resources to help provide those simple things we tend to overlook and take for granted, especially when we celebrate the holidays. That is why here at Teaching Family Homes, our Adopt a Child program is so important in helping bring that joy and brightness into our families’ homes and making a difference in our families’ lives.
This year we are again reaching out to you to join us to ensure that the kids at Teaching Family Homes have an opportunity to enjoy a wonderful Christmas and holiday season. Because of your generous and kind donations, our Adopt a Child program has been successful in the past and will continue to allow our kids to experience the wonders of the holiday season and the generosity of our community.
There are several ways you can participate in the Adopt a Child experience.
- You can make a monetary donation at www.teachingfamilyhomes.org and look for the PayPal link.
- We can email you a wish list from one of our children, and you can purchase items from the list and drop them off at our main office.
- You could adopt one of our residential programs, in which case we can email you a list of items that would benefit kids throughout the year.
