About Us

In 1980, a need was expressed in the community for a local treatment facility for youth that would normally be sent to facilities either down state or out of state. A group was tasked with researching options and contact was made with Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska. A contract was developed and the Lake Superior Regional Training Site was begun with a single group home in Marquette.

Since that time, we have expanded our continuum of care to include a variety of in-home and residential treatment programs serving the needs of our community’s youth and families.

Currently we operate five residential group homes in Marquette and Newberry that serve youth from the state of Michigan. Our in-home programs serve thirteen of the fifteen Upper Peninsula counties.

Our Mission

The mission of Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan is to provide ethical, cost-effective care to children, families and individuals in need by facilitating self-sufficiency through the enhancement of self-esteem, skill development and interpersonal relationships.
